On November 18, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S.V. Lavrov, the XXXIX meeting of the Council of the Heads of Subjects of the Russian Federation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia was held.
It was attended by the heads of the Lipetsk, Volgograd, Tyumen, Kemerovo regions, senior officials of the Udmurt Republic and Kaliningrad region, the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation, federal executive bodies.
Priorities of international interregional cooperation of subjects of the Federation in the new geopolitical situation were discussed.
Opening the session S. V. Lavrov emphasized the importance of utilization of international interregional cooperation potential in the interests of ensuring sustainable social and economic development of the Federation subjects.
Members of the Council analyzed and identified the most important areas of regional diplomacy. First of all it is to deepen integration processes within the framework of the Union State with Belarus, the Eurasian Economic Community and the CIS, to intensify interaction in the SCO and the BRICS, in general to support Russia’s turn to the East by developing all-round cooperation with partners from friendly countries in Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.
Summarizing the results of the meeting, detailed recommendations for the regions were adopted.
