The IV All-Russian Scientific and Practical conference “D. S. Likhachev Museum Readings” will be held on November 24-25 in the city of Torzhok on the basis of the VIEM museum complex. The mission of the scientific and practical conference is to discuss the humanitarian development of the Russian province: culture, science, education of spirituality, harmonious development of personality based on the best examples of cultural and historical heritage.
At the Museum Readings, the main section will be devoted to the work of Nikolai Lvov.
“Dmitry Likhachev wrote that N. A. Lviv alone could keep the rapidly developing culture of the epoch in all its diversity. This is what a genius said about a genius, and we are glad that the work of the Conference is connected with the legacy of these great people,” emphasized the Director of VIEM Irina Zhukova.
The Conference will be attended by employees of the leading museums of Russia: The State Historical Museum, the State Hermitage Museum, the V. A. Shchusev State Museum of Architecture, the Peterhof State Museum of Fine Arts. Representatives of the largest Russian universities, including the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia and MARKHI, will also come to discuss topical issues of preserving cultural heritage.
