Minister of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan Nuriddin Azizi held a meeting attended by the largest investment funds of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran, as well as the leadership of the Tatarstan energy company “KER-Holding”.

The event was attended by Iran’s Economic representative in Afghanistan Hassan Sherzadi, Consul General of Pakistan in Afghanistan Kausar Zaidi and the General director of the Kazan Charitable Patriotic Fund of Muslims of Russia, whose representative office operates in Kabul, Rustam Habibullin.

During the meeting, specialists of the Tatarstan company held a presentation of the master plan for the construction of coal-fired power plants and signed an agreement on the development of infrastructure projects with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan in the amount of about 1 billion US dollars.

“At the moment, the construction of coal—fired power plants in various provinces is a priority project. Supplies from nearby countries, mainly from Tajikistan, are extremely limited. Today in Afghanistan, electricity is supplied only for an hour and a half a day. In the northern regions, the state of energy, partially destroyed by military actions, is close to collapse. And, of course, this project is vital for the Afghan people,” Rustam Khabibullin said.
