“Embassy Life” has decided to suspend the publication of the rating of tourist places from The New York Times after the tragic events that took place in Turkey and Syria. Nevertheless, the editorial board believes that it would be extremely incorrect to ignore Istanbul, which is located on the 35th line of the list. We are confident that Turkish and Syrian cities will be able to become “Living Museums of Resilience.” With this phrase, The New York Times described the last place in its tourist top – Sarajevo, but now it fits perfectly to the description of the affected cities. We hope that people and countries will find the strength and the ability to cope with the past and live in the present.

The city of Istanbul, once Constantinople, can be considered one of the most attractive, complex, historical and important cities in the world. Despite the fact that for a long part of its history it has been in the crossfire of global conflicts, it is still the most amazing city that has something to offer its guests from all over the world.

  • On 36 locations located in Taibei, capital of Taiwan,
37 and 46-Urgell-Poblado and Guajira, Colombia,
    38-Lausanne, Switzerland,

The 52nd place is occupied by the ancient city of Sarajevo.

*Note that of the remaining positions from the list of 52 places required to visit in 2023, according to the editors of The New York Times, six occupy locations located on the territory of the United States: 40 – Louisville (Kentucky), 43 – Macon (Georgia), 43 – Grand Junction (Colorado), 45, 48, 50, 51- Grand Junction (Colorado), the American prairies of Montana, New Haven (Connecticut) and the Black Hills (South Dakota). Also on the 49th line of the rating, the editorial board of The New York Times placed the eastern townships of Canada (approx. – administrative unit, the area around the city).
