The orders of the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology approved a set of the first five national standards in the field of exoskeletons. Among them:<\/p>\n

GOST R 60.5.0.1\u20132023 “Robots and robotic devices. Exoskeletons. Terms and definitions”,<\/p>\n

GOST R 60.5.0.2\u20132023 “Robots and robotic devices. Exoskeletons. General requirements for marking and operational documentation”,<\/p>\n

GOST R 60.5.2.1\u20132023 “Robots and robotic devices. General requirements for hazard accounting and risk assessment in the development of exoskeletons”,<\/p>\n

GOST R 60.5.3.3\u20132023 “Robots and robotic devices. Methods of testing exoskeletons. Evaluation of the performance and safety of the exoskeleton when walking”,<\/p>\n

GOST R 60.5.3.4\u20132023 “Robots and robotic devices. Methods of testing exoskeletons. Evaluation of the performance and safety of the exoskeleton when moving in a confined space.”<\/p>\n

Exoskeletons belong to the class of wearable devices and help people regain lost functions of the musculoskeletal system or improve and supplement the physical capabilities of a person. Currently, exoskeletons are used in various fields of life \u2013 in medicine, industry, construction, emergency situations, military field and others, therefore, the development and production of exoskeletons is a promising scientific and technical direction that is intensively developing both in the Russian Federation and around the world. In this regard, and in order to consolidate the accumulated experience in the development and use of exoskeletons, the development of a regulatory framework establishing terminology, as well as requirements for documentation, safety and test methods has become very relevant.<\/p>\n

The new standards are part of a set of interrelated national standards “Robots and robotic devices” aimed at improving the interoperability of robots and their components, reducing the cost of their development, production and maintenance through standardization and unification of processes, interfaces, nodes and parameters. These documents will provide the opportunity to:<\/p>\n

– unification of robots and their components to ensure the use of previously developed products in new developments;
\n– reducing the labor intensity and increasing the efficiency of the development, manufacture, operation and repair of robots;
\n– automation of the design of new products;
\n– certification of robots for compliance with the requirements.<\/p>\n

In the future, this area of standardization work will be continued mainly in terms of developing the classification of exoskeletons, safety requirements for their use, test methods, as well as the use of exoskeletons in specific application areas.<\/p>\n

The set of standards was developed by the State Scientific Center of the Russian Federation “Central Research and Development Institute of Robotics and Technical Cybernetics” (“Central Research Institute of RTC”) together with the Federal State Budgetary Institution “Russian Institute of Standardization” within the framework of the specialized technical Committee for Standardization No. 141 “Robotics” (TC 141).<\/p>\n
