We have witnessed the release of Israeli and foreign hostages held by Hamas and other groups since October 7, as well as the release of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Antonio Guterres expressed gratitude to the Governments of Qatar, Egypt and the United States for their assistance in reaching this agreement, and also highly appreciated the role of the International Committee of the Red Cross. &#8220;The United Nations will continue to support these efforts in every possible way,&#8221; the UN chief said, calling on all states to use their influence to end the &#8220;tragic conflict&#8221; and support steps &#8220;towards the only sustainable future of the region: a solution providing for the peaceful coexistence of two states.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In accordance with the agreement reached earlier, on Sunday, Hamas released 17 more hostages captured during the group&#8217;s attack on southern Israel on October 7. As a result, the total number of hostages released reached 58 people. 117 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons have also been released since Friday.<\/p>\n<h2>Transportation of vaccines<\/h2>\n<p>Over the weekend, new efforts were made to rebuild Gaza&#8217;s shattered health system: a UN convoy delivered a batch of vaccines to the south of the enclave, where they can be stored in cold storage.<\/p>\n<p>According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), we are talking about 7,600 doses of vaccines for various diseases stored in a warehouse of the Gaza Ministry of Health, where they could become unusable due to the lack of refrigeration equipment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After a thorough check of the vaccines for their suitability, they will be used to strengthen routine immunization, which is difficult due to a shortage of supplies and ongoing hostilities,&#8221; the OCHA stressed.<\/p>\n<h2>Hunger, despair and devastation<\/h2>\n<p>On Sunday, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and the United Nations Children&#8217;s Fund (UNICEF) conducted a joint mission to deliver vital food aid to the Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our team has heard the stories of people who have not received any help for several weeks,&#8221; Samer Abdel Jaber, a representative of the WFP in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, wrote on social networks. &#8220;They have witnessed hunger, despair and destruction.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, a joint mission of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PAOC) evacuated 17 patients of the Al-Ahli Hospital together with their accompanying persons to the European Hospital in Khan Yunis, in the south of the enclave. The head of WHO Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said that patients with gunshot wounds, amputations of limbs and burns were taken out.
