The unacceptability of using the economy as a weapon, including unilateral sanctions and embargoes against undesirable States, and the seizure of sovereign assets, was particularly noted. All this reflects the desire of the United States and its allies to extract economic benefits from the hotbeds of geopolitical tension they create in order to compensate for the objective loss of their positions in the global economy and the inability to compete in good faith.<\/p>\n<p>Russia&#8217;s principled line to preserve the G20 as a key global economic forum free from politicization and not authorized to deal with issues of international peace and security to the detriment of the prerogatives of the UN Security Council was confirmed. In this context, the inadmissibility of attempts to divert the discussion away from the real problems of the world economy by &#8220;Ukrainizing&#8221; the agenda of the Group of Twenty was emphasized, especially since the West in every possible way avoids an honest conversation on the situation in the Palestinian territories and on many other inconvenient geopolitical topics for it.<\/p>\n<p>Taking into account the changed balance of power and the strengthening of new centers of world development, the Foreign Ministry paid special attention to the urgent need to democratize the global governance system by expanding the rights of the countries of the Global South in accordance with their real weight in the international arena. The problem of artificially slowing down the reform process of the Bretton Woods institutions in order to keep them under the control of a narrow circle of Western shareholders, who increasingly use these institutions to solve their own political tasks, including financing the militarization of the Kiev regime, is emphasized. Russia supports the early redistribution of voting quotas in the IMF and the World Bank in favor of emerging market countries. Sergey Lavrov also pointed out the need to decisively abandon the practice of setting political conditions when providing financing for the development of countries in need.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister noted the importance of taking into account in the activities of the Group of Twenty the objective trend of increasing the role in the global economy of such associations as BRICS, SCO, ASEAN, EAEU, African Union, League of Arab States, CELAC. Sergey Lavrov stressed the significant potential of regional integration projects, highlighting the prospect of forming a Large Eurasian Partnership. He welcomed the initiative of the Brazilian side to invite the New BRICS Development Bank to participate in the work of the G20.
