On November 12-13 in Dubai was held the 14th Regional Conference of Russian Compatriots in Africa and the Middle East. More than 30 delegates from 25 countries – the heads of country coordinating councils of Russian compatriots organizations, members of the World and Regional Coordinating Councils, and active representatives of the diaspora took part in its work.
Deputy Chairman of the Government Commission for the Affairs of Compatriots Abroad, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation A. Rudenko sent greetings to the conference, which noted that the Russian Federation is consistently developing relationships with African and Middle Eastern countries, including the support of public diplomacy.
Russian Ambassador to the UAE T.F. Zabirov, Russian Senator M.I. Akhmadov, representatives of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Rossotrudnichestvo, Rosmolodezh, Moscow City Government, Russian non-profit human rights organizations took part in the event and assured compatriots that they can rely on the full support of Russia. Forum participants emphasized that the united community in the region is able to maintain a pan-Russian cultural identity, protect their own interests, and successfully develop business initiatives.
At the close of the conference, a resolution and a declaration condemning the anti-Russian campaign in a number of unfriendly countries, which has led to unacceptable in today’s world manifestations of xenophobia, bias and hostility to the Russian people, Russia, the Russian language were adopted.
