President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has arrived in Tajikistan on a state visit.
This is reported by the press service of the head of Tajikistan.
The plane carrying the Uzbek leader landed at Dushanbe International Airport in the morning.
President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon personally met Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
A red carpet was laid out at the capital’s airport and the territory was decorated with compositions of spring flowers to welcome the guest, as well as the national flags of the two countries.
The motorcade of the presidents headed to the Palace of the Nation, where the official welcoming ceremony took place.
Then Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid flowers at the monument to Ismoil Somoni. Together with the Prime Minister of Tajikistan, Kohir Rasulzoda, the President of Uzbekistan arrived at Dusti Square and laid flowers at the monument of the famous king of antiquity.
Rahmon and Mirziyoyev expressed confidence that the results of the state visit will contribute to strengthening and expanding cooperation, friendship, strategic partnership and solidarity between the countries.
Mirziyoyev’s visit will last two days and the two heads of state are expected to sign new agreements.
