On August 21, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation E.S.Ivanov met with the Governor. Sakhalin region V.I.Limarenko.
During the conversation, topical issues of the development of foreign relations of the Sakhalin region were discussed. Special attention was paid to the possibility of deepening cooperation in trade, economic, cultural, educational, sports and other fields with Chinese partners, in particular, the prospects for establishing cooperation with Hainan Province.
It was noted that the expansion of the interregional dialogue with the countries The Asia-Pacific region makes a significant contribution to strengthening our country’s position in this macroregion. In this context, E.S.Ivanov suggested V.I.Limarenko to consider the possibility of involving the Sakhalin Region in the session “Interregional Cooperation in Eurasia” of the XI Eastern Economic Forum (September 1-4).
The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed its readiness to provide further assistance to the Sakhalin Region in the implementation of promising joint projects with regions of countries that are constructive towards Russia.
