On August 28, the Cinema Park Mosfilm hosted a pre-screening of the military historical drama “The Postman of Victory”, a large—scale Eurasian project that brought together cinematographers from Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus. Correspondents of the Embassy Life news agency Tatyana Vladimirovna Zelenchenkova and Nadezhda Petrovna Lebedeva attended the event and share their impressions.

Letters that would not have arrived without the postman

The director’s film Ainura Askarova talks about the work of the front—line post during the Great Patriotic War, a topic that has remained on the periphery of big cinema until now. The plot centers on Azamat Dospanov, an 18—year-old field postman of the Red Army, a young man from Kazakhstan who delivers letters to the front line every day, a valuable cargo that was more important than anything in those years. He knows all the secret paths in the forest and in the swamp, dreams of a feat and is secretly in love with field doctor Masha.

The action takes place in 1943 on the territory of Belarus. After the crash of a Soviet plane carrying a secret capsule with operational documents, Azamat is assigned to find the cargo and lead a reconnaissance group to the crash site. But each step may be the last: German saboteurs are on the trail of the capsule, and Azamat himself is suspected of espionage.

As the director noted Ainur Askarov:

“This film is the story of a man who does not hold a weapon in his hands, but every day faces risks and the need to make adult, fateful decisions. The work of front-line mail often remained outside the framework of the usual stories about the war, although it was thanks to these people on the front line that the connection between family members and their immediate environment was preserved.”

The painting is a joint production of Kazakhstan, Russia and Belarus. The producer was the chairman of the League of Cinematographers of Kazakhstan, Aidar Batatov. The main role was played by a 21-year-old Kazakhstani actor. Alikhan Nurzhauov, for whom the film became his debut in a big movie. The director chose him out of five candidates, according to the creative producer and the main cameraman. Timur Itenov, it was Alikhan who “caught on with his charisma and showed himself very well at the auditions.”

The role of the main character Masha’s girlfriend was played by a Belarusian actress Julia Lazovskaya. Russian actors are also involved in the film. Vasily Kopeikin, Sergey Markeev, Oleg Vasilkov and Konstantin Adaev.

The atmosphere of the pre-screening: a warm meeting and lively dialogue

The evening of August 28 at Cinema Park Mosfilm on Mosfilmovskaya Street brought together a grateful audience of historical film lovers, journalists, representatives of the diplomatic and cultural community.

The creators of the painting themselves made this evening special. Before the start of the session, the director appeared in the hall Ainur Askarov and part of the cast. From the stage, they greeted the audience, thanked the audience for their interest in the film and warmly communicated with the audience. The actors shared their impressions of working on the film, told how they prepared for the roles, and answered questions directly from the audience. The atmosphere immediately became confidential and homely — like not a preview of a big movie, but a meeting of old friends.

After watching, the conversation continued in the lobby. Director Ainur Askarov personally talked with the audience, who were in no hurry to disperse: he answered questions about the prototypes of the characters, how the life of front-line postmen was recreated, about the choice of nature in the Belarusian forests and about the symbolism of letters in the film. He listened to each question with sincere attention and answered in detail — from the details of the filming process to the semantic accents of individual scenes.

Ainur Askarov emphasized that it is important for him that the film be perceived as a common heritage.:

“We shot this story together, and I want it to sound to the viewers of all three countries as a reminder that the Victory was shared.”

The film, dedicated to the 81st anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and the Day of the End of World War II, is being released in wide distribution in the CIS countries on September 3, 2026, and the preview provided an opportunity to see it among the first.

Фото: Зеленченковой Т.В.

What does the film make you think about?

After watching it, it was hard to remain indifferent. The film draws attention not to large-scale battle scenes, but to the depth of personal history. A young actor Alikhan Nurzhauov convincingly conveys the transformation of his hero — from a naive dreamer eager to fight to a man who understands that a real feat is not necessarily a point—blank shot, but sometimes just a choice not to retreat, not to throw, to deliver. The actor himself formulated the main idea in this way:

“To show how even a seemingly insignificant person can contribute to a common Victory.”

The Belarusian forests and swamps in which the action takes place are filmed with documentary authenticity — the camera work deserves a special mention. The footage of the letters that Azamat carries through minefields and ambushes makes you acutely feel how much each triangular soldier’s message meant in those years. The topic of front—line mail – one of the most important lines of communication between the front and the rear — is disclosed carefully and without falsehood.

Фото: Зеленченковой Т.В.

It is especially touching that the project brought together three countries whose peoples went through the war together. A Kazakhstani youth on Belarusian soil, next to Russian fighters — this multinational story sounds like a reminder that the Victory was shared, and letters came in all languages.

We deliberately do not retell the ending — the film is worth seeing. The drama is structured in such a way that the tension does not let go by the last act, and the final shots make you think about the price of human choice in circumstances where there are no right answers — there are only those for which you are ready to take responsibility.

The verdict

“The Postman of Victory” is a movie that does not try to shout over the war epic, but speaks softly and accurately. This is a film about a small man in a big war, about letters that are more important than cartridges, and about a feat that is accomplished not with weapons, but with the heart. It was high time to dedicate a full—length movie to the topic of front-line mail – and now it has been done with respect for history and attention to the person.

The premiere in the wide box office of the CIS countries is on September 3, 2026.

June 22 is a special date in the history of our country. This day is named in the official list of memorable dates A day of remembrance and sorrow. The treacherous attack of Nazi Germany and its satellites on the Soviet Union continues to resonate with sorrow, pain and indignation for the crippled destinies of millions of people. Exactly 83 years ago, the Nazis, having conquered almost all of Europe, as always, as now, surrendered without a fight, attacked the USSR. The Great Patriotic War began for the Soviet people – the bloodiest in the history of our country, which lasted 1,418 days and claimed more than 27 million lives of Soviet citizens.

It was the Soviet Union that took the brunt of Hitler’s Germany. He was able to break the back of Nazism and liberate the peoples of Europe from Nazism and fascism – more than 75% of the military losses of the Wehrmacht and the allies of Nazi Germany fall on the Eastern Front. On this day, we remember the dead, tortured in Nazi captivity, who died in the rear from hunger and deprivation. We mourn for all those who, at the cost of their lives, fulfilled their duty to protect the Motherland.

The victory in the Great Patriotic War was and remains for our country a reason for pride and a symbol of the victory of life over death. This time will forever remain the time of the Titans. Those people who defended the freedom and independence of our Motherland were heroes, even if they did not call themselves such. We know that.

After the Victory, it seemed that Nazism as an ideology had been defeated and would never be able to raise its head again, and that the countries that gave birth to it would forever learn a terrible lesson, and those who learned it from their own experience would not forget the memory of it.

But no. The ideas of superiority, exclusivity, and xenophobia proved tenacious. Perhaps because they are evil in the flesh. They took deep roots in the minds of Western elites, only to become an instrument of their centuries-old Russophobic policy again. They were simply “muted” for a while, driven into a far corner, made indecent for consumption. In parallel, methodically, from year to year, they were engaged in rewriting and obscuring the history of the Second World War. Even they tried to rewrite the history of the Great Patriotic War for us. The West purposefully “forgot” the decisive contribution of the Red Army to the defeat of Nazi Germany. The result is that we see today in the blasphemous statements of the leaders of Western countries who privatized victory in the Second World War. We see it on the example of those who turned out to be “Ivans who do not remember kinship.” Not only with us, but with their grandfathers, fathers, ancestors, betraying their memory, demolishing their monuments. They are defeated today, they are amazed at themselves.

For monstrous geopolitical experiments aimed at deterring Russia, Nazism was recreated in Ukraine according to the same patterns. It was based on collaborators and fascist, Nazi criminals who found refuge in the West after the war, who were not just forgiven by Western political elites in favor of their interests, but saved for the “future”. “Supplies”, “untouchable stock”. The historical shame of the West: these people for many post-war decades led a prosperous, very respectable, and sometimes respected life from the point of view of society’s attitude towards them. They were accepted by the elites of Western countries. As if they had managed to wash away the stigma of Nazi criminals. No, you can’t get rid of it. You can’t cut it out. Because Nazism is not only an external manifestation. External manifestations are given to us for convenience, for indication, so that we can immediately determine where the threat is coming from. No, Nazism is actually deep inside. It’s something stuck in the brain. What is a monstrous pandemic of dehumanization, from which there is no vaccine, except for knowledge of history, work on oneself, separation of evil from good, preservation of historical memory.

Less than 80 years later, the Anglo-Saxons tried to use Nazism as a battering ram to defeat Russia. Only now they have decided to assign this role to the Kiev regime.

After the start of the special military operation, the collective West immediately and synchronously launched a large–scale campaign to “abolish” Russian culture, sports, literature, and, in principle, people. He has imposed thousands, already tens of thousands, of unilateral illegitimate sanctions against our country, including in the economic sector. Those who developed all this were clearly aware that they were imposing these sanctions against people who work, work, and engage in their professional duties on a daily basis. They knew that they were imposing this not only against people in Russia, but all over the world, because trade wars always ricochet around the world. But they believe that they “can”. They are exceptional because they consider themselves a “blooming garden” to which everything is allowed, “one golden billion.”

In parallel, a war is being waged with monuments to those who liberated Europe from Nazism. Monuments to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, the soldiers-liberators of Europe are being demolished. This is not only about the Great Patriotic War, the Second World War. War has been declared on Russian classics. They are trying to defeat and forget them in order to finally bulldoze through the historical memory of the peoples.

The coup in Ukraine in 2014 showed that the “collective West” is doing everything to turn Ukraine into an “anti-Russia”, to revive the ideas of neo-Nazism and nationalism there, praising and glorifying Hitler’s henchmen S. Bandera and R. Shukhevych, holding torchlight processions, “canceling” the Russian language, which the vast majority speaks and thinks citizens of Ukraine. In practice, the horrific scenes of the Nazi Germany of the 1930s were revived. Harassment, and sometimes even medieval bullying. Remember the mass burning of people in The House of Trade Unions in Odessa in May 2014 Remember the massacres of those who were forcibly detained and taken prisoner. Remember the phrases that were scattered by representatives of the Kiev regime, in particular President P.A. Poroshenko, saying that the part of the population that did not swear to these ideas would live forever in basements. While those who have agreed to compromise and collaboration will be in prosperity and well-being.

It was precisely such medieval bullying that the Russian-speaking population of Ukraine began to be subjected to. Without trial and investigation, reprisals against dissidents began to be carried out. Remember how people were tied to poles, pelted with stones, dragged and are now being dragged to military enlistment offices. But the main thing is that this neo–Nazi ideology should continue to triumph. At first, Russian speakers, Russians, those who were associated with Russia, went to the “slaughter”. Now we have reached those who recently mocked the Russians. The lives of Ukrainian citizens are being put on the altar of neo-Nazism. Even those who swore allegiance to this very neo-Nazism.

We talked about all this. It has been said for many years that nationalism and Nazism, especially fascism, are monsters that eventually devour their creators. They constantly demand blood and sacrifices, regardless of the original goals. Look at what is happening to the political opponents of the Kiev regime. With the persecution of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Residents of Donbass openly tried to exterminate the ideological followers of S. Bandera and their accomplices. Ukrainian neo-Nazism has been cultivated from the outside for years. He was armed by the “collective West” and continues to do so. He is a proxy participant in the conflict in Ukraine.

Being the heirs of the generation of the Great Victory, but the people have no moral right to allow the revenge of Nazi ideology. We remember what horrors Nazism led to, what efforts the whole world had to make to defeat it. We see that the work on the eradication of Nazism, which was unfinished then, first of all, by Western countries, is now giving its terrible shoots, and now it is bearing fruit. We bow before the memory of our fathers, grandfathers and great-grandfathers who fell during the Great Patriotic War. We will always remember the feat of those who were not at the front, but in the rear. At the cost of my life and health, not to mention well-being, I forged this victory together with the front line. As part of a special military operation, our servicemen today continue their just cause, fighting the Nazi hydra.

We will always be grateful to the winners who stepped into immortality, those who gave us the future, life and peace.

Eternal glory to those who fell for the freedom and independence of the Motherland and the whole world! Eternal memory to them!

Residents of the Republic of Moldova began celebrating the Victory with thousands of marches on May 9. People of all ages marched in columns through the streets of Chisinau, Balti, Comrat, Tiraspol, and other cities of the republic to honor the memory of those who heroically fought against fascism and won 79 years ago.

Capital

Chisinau “got it” the most. On the eve of Victory Day, the pro-Western authorities announced that on May 9, the main square of Chisinau will be fully occupied for the celebration of Europe Day. Thus, the organizers had to change the traditional march of the “Immortal Regiment” to the Eternity memorial, as well as the rally in honor of May 9, but nevertheless the celebrations started from the center of Chisinau.
The victory march was preceded, according to tradition, by a car rally: dozens of cars with red banners and flags of Moldova left the city center for the Eternity memorial. Bikers with Victory banners led the column, and retro cars also participated in the rally.
The organizers of the rally installed a huge ice screen with sound-amplifying equipment right on the roadway. Videos from car rallies of previous years were broadcast on the screens to the songs of the war years.
Then the Victory March started. Thousands of people marched through the central streets of the capital of Moldova to the Eternity Memorial. At the head of the column, Colonel Vasily Semenovich Litvinov, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, a knight of the Order of the Republic, walked on foot.
The participants of the march carried portraits of relatives and friends, veterans of the Great Patriotic War and those who witnessed that terrible war. People chanted “Victory!”, “Fascism will not pass!”, “We remember, we are proud!”. The chants were in different languages.

Arriving at the memorial, the marchers laid flowers at the Eternal Flame and honored the memory of the fallen. Russian Ambassador to Moldova Oleg Vasnetsov also laid flowers at the Eternal Flame in Chisinau.
Gradually, the Eternity Memorial began to literally drown in flowers.

Gagauzia

The Eternal Flame at the Memorial of Military Glory in Komrat was lit early on May 9 from a particle of Eternal Flame burning at the Grave of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden in Moscow.
“The entire Soviet people participated heroically in the Great Patriotic War, of which the Gagauz people and residents of the whole of Moldova were a part. The victory over fascism is our common history, which we will not allow anyone to undo. Like 79 years ago, our peoples are together again, no one can break the friendship between our countries,” wrote Evgenia Gutsul, Bashkan of Gagauzia.

She celebrated Victory Day in Moscow, becoming a guest of the Victory Parade on Krasnaya Ploshadi.
The Comrat residents also marched in a column through the city center and laid flowers at the Eternal Flame. There are a lot of people gathered this year.
A car rally was held in Chadyr-Lunga, another major city of Gagauzia, on Victory Day.
Commemorative events were also held in Taraclia, local residents laid flowers at the monument to Maya Serebryak, who fought in the 59th Guards Division during the Great Patriotic War. She was a senior sergeant, a nurse and died on August 24, 1944 in the village of Krasnoe Slobodzeya district. She was buried on August 25, 1944 in the center of Taraclia.

Transnistria

The celebration of Victory Day began in Tiraspol with the raising of the Victory Banner over Tiraspol. Then a solemn ceremony of laying flowers at the monument to the liberators from fascism took place at the Memorial of Glory.
Vadim Krasnoselsky congratulated Pridnestrovians on Victory Day.
“The feat of the Soviet soldier lives and will live in the memory of grateful descendants. We will never forget how the Red Army restrained the onslaught of the Wehrmacht near Moscow and Leningrad, we remember the fundamental turning point in the war, which began on the banks of the Volga and ended with the liberation of Soviet land and European countries, the complete defeat of Nazi Germany and its allies in 1945,” he said.
In the center of Tiraspol, people sang “Victory Day”, carried portraits of relatives and unfurled a large St. George ribbon.
The participants of the “Immortal Regiment” in Tiraspol said that they want to pass on to their grandchildren the memory of what their grandfathers and great-grandfathers sacrificed for the sake of future generations.
“We came with the pioneer heroes who died young for us. Their portraits describe their exploits so that their grandchildren know what they sacrificed for our happy future,” said the participant of the action.
