On March 10, on the sidelines of the Diplomatic Forum in Antalya, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Syria G. Pedersen.
There was a substantive discussion of a set of issues related to the promotion of the political process led and carried out by the Syrians themselves with the assistance of the UN, as stipulated by UN Security Council Resolution 2254. Particular attention was paid to the continuation of the work of the Constitutional Committee, taking into account plans to convene regular meetings of the editorial Commission in the spring of this year.
In addition, the tasks of providing humanitarian assistance to all Syrians in need throughout Syria without discrimination, politicization and preconditions on the basis of respect for the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of the country were considered.
