On November 22, the Russian Foreign Ministry hosted a meeting between Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and African countries, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia M.L.Bogdanov and a delegation of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, headed by Deputy Secretary General of the DFLP Fahd Suleiman.
During a detailed exchange of views on the current situation in the Middle East the main focus was on the Palestinian problem, including the task of restoring Palestinian national unity. The Russian side reaffirmed its readiness to continue its assistance in overcoming Palestinian differences through the political platform of the Palestine Liberation Organization, which aims to create an independent Palestinian State within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The situations in Syria and Lebanon were also discussed.
The importance of further strengthening the traditionally friendly Russian-Palestinian relations, including deepening the political dialogue on international and regional issues of mutual interest was confirmed.
