The upcoming “decisive” restructuring plan of the Chinese government will include the financial and technology sectors, Chinese President Xi Jinping said.
Details of the reform package approved by the Central Committee of the Communist Party on February 28 will be revealed at the upcoming annual session of the National People’s Congress (NPC), China’s highest legislative body. It will begin its annual work on March 5.
The “far-reaching” changes will target deep-rooted vested interests and have a “profound impact” on the country’s economy and society, Xi told leaders of political groups supporting the ruling Communist Party.
China has entered a period when there are problems and risks in the field of development, and the future is becoming increasingly uncertain. All party members are strongly advised to be prepared “for serious trials.”
It is reported that the plan includes central and local party committees, the NPC, the State Council, as well as the People’s Political Consultative Council of China (CPPCC), the country’s highest advisory body. Its session begins on March 4. The reform will also be aimed at strengthening the role of the party in the private sector.
