Oleg Matytsin, Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation, took part in a working visit to China as part of a government delegation headed by Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation. The delegation also included Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.

Mikhail Mishustin held a meeting with Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Li Qiang. Then the negotiations continued with the participation of an expanded delegation. Russian Sports Minister Oleg Matytsin took part in Mikhail Mishustin’s talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The Russian Prime Minister thanked the Chinese leadership for constructive joint work and expressed hope for the development of direct contacts between people, acquaintance with the rich history, culture and traditions, which will contribute to strengthening the centuries-old friendship between the Russian and Chinese peoples.

In turn, Oleg Matytsin noted the positive dynamics in the development of sports cooperation between Russia and China.

“Despite the fact that the years of Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports are coming to an end, we have a big plan for further work. About 600 sporting events have already been successfully held, including the Russian-Chinese Youth Games. Our goal is to establish constant interaction, exchange of best practices and experience.  In 2024, we will be glad to see athletes from China at the Games of the Future and the BRICS Games in Kazan, the World Friendship Games in Moscow and Yekaterinburg. We will continue to increase the scale of our communication, because we see the interest of our partners and the prospects for such cooperation,” the Minister said.
