A question from the Online publication “Embassy Life”:
According to recent reports, despite declarations of a truce, strikes between Israel and Iran are continuing. Can we say that the de-escalation regime is not actually working? Who, in Russia’s opinion, is primarily responsible for its disruption?
The answer of M.V. Zakharova:
We perfectly understand all the most difficult aspects of the situation in the region. We are constantly monitoring the situation. Generally speaking, the ceasefire regime between Iran and the United States is being observed, despite the announcement by the US President D.Trump’s naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.
As for Lebanon, I would like to emphasize once again that we will make comments on this matter after reviewing the results of telephone conversations between the US President and the leadership of Lebanon and Israel.
Lebanon is also part of the deal, so we hope that the armed confrontation will end here. We believe that the Iranian-American agreements on the cessation of hostilities, which Israel has joined, must be fully respected in the interests of preventing a recurrence of full-scale escalation in the region and creating appropriate conditions for the negotiation process.
