One of the most important Italian designers of the 1980s and 90s, Romeo Gigli, will open the Casa Romeo guest house in the Medina of Marrakech in a few days. Like many fashion designers, he has long loved Morocco and moved there with his family three years ago. All this time, there was a large-scale reconstruction of his riad. Gigli himself was involved in the project, who is an architect by education – he never studied fashion design. According to him, Casa Romeo will have a noticeable mix of different cultures, and his eclectic collection will also be located here.

Romeo Gigli was born in 1951 in Bologna. His grandfather and father were second-hand booksellers, and he spent his childhood among antique paintings and antique furniture. Like many famous stylists, Gigli first studied architecture, and then took up fashion design.
In 1987, he presented a collection completely sewn by hand. In Paris in 1989, the public greeted the designer’s collection with twenty-minute applause. In 1990, the Romeo Gigli brand signed a license with Ermenegildo Zegna Group for the production of men’s clothing.
