The first industrial aerospace base has started operating in China

CGTN announced the launch of the “CAS Space Industrial Base” in the south of China. According to media reports, the production forces of the complex are designed to produce 30 launch vehicles per year.

The space industrial base is located in Guangzhou (Guangdong Province) and covers an area of about 40 hectares – 400,000 sq. m. The list of tasks of CAS includes the production, testing and assembly of launch vehicles on solid and liquid fuels.

According to Yang Yiqiang, Chairman and CEO of the aerospace base, China aims to increase the production of rocket structures by the end of 2023. Now the assembly and testing of the Lijian-1 Y-2 launch vehicle is being completed at the base, the launch of which is scheduled for May.

Earlier, the country’s main space contractors announced that more than 60 aerospace projects are planned to be implemented in China this year. They also include the fourth phase of the lunar exploration program and a project to discover new planets.
