Today, on March 28, the leader of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ratified the law on the demarcation of the Kazakh-Uzbek border, the press service of the President reported in the official Telegram channel.

“The Head of State signed the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On ratification of the Agreement between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan on the demarcation of the Kazakh-Uzbek state border”,” the publication says.

According to the news portal Nur.Kz the signed legislative act is a continuation of the agreements reached during the visit of the head of state to Uzbekistan in December last year. Within the framework of the meeting with his colleague Shavkat Mirziyoyev, a list of documents was signed, including an agreement on the demarcation of the state border.

“This historic agreement fully completes the international legal registration of the state border of Kazakhstan on its southern borders,” Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said at the time.

According to the Committee of Geodesy and Cartography of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of Kazakhstan, the total length of the border between the two states is 13,398 km.

*Border demarcation is the process of establishing the borders of the country on the ground, with the construction of the entire border infrastructure.
