A new private airline, Air Samarkand, has appeared in Uzbekistan. This is reported by Spot with reference to the first deputy general director of the company Salohiddin Nasirov and the head of the flight service department Svetlana Isyanova.

The carrier will be based at Samarkand International Airport. The company plans to fly to major transfer hubs, allowing transit flights. In particular, it plans to establish flights on 14 regular routes: Istanbul, Antalya, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Delhi, Jeddah, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Samara, as well as Tel Aviv. Air ticket prices will be announced separately.

Now the company has two medium-haul Airbus A320 aircraft. Both have a full economy configuration: there are 180 economy class (Y) seats in the cabin. During the year, the company plans to receive several new A320 aircraft, including business class seats, and A330, which will expand the route network and improve the quality of service, company representatives said.

“Air Samarkand is not planned as a low-cost carrier. We will adhere to a fair, reasonable and competitive pricing policy. This means affordable fares, especially for those who travel light. The fares will include on—board meals and an on-board entertainment system,” said Svetlana Isyanova, head of the Flight service Department.

The company estimates the potential passenger traffic from Samarkand and nearby regions, including Navoi and Bukhara, at about 4.5 million people.
