A special working group of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), which arrived in the Republic of Tajikistan earlier this year, analyzes the potential and possibility of connecting the railway lines of Tajikistan and Afghanistan. The Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Tajikistan reported this.
The construction of the new railway will create a unified transport and logistics system in Central and East Asia. The proposed railway line should be part of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Tajikistan road, the agreement on the construction of which the named countries signed back in 2013. And if the first stage of the project (Atamyrat-Ymamnazar (Turkmenistan) – Akina (Afghanistan)) It was implemented at the end of 2016, then difficulties arose with subsequent ones due to a number of disagreements between Tajikistan and Afghanistan in the location of transport routes.
Now South Korean specialists are planning to attract additional funds to analyze the economic and technical component of the project for the construction of the railway J.Balkhi – Jaihun – Nizhny Panj. The Ministry of Transport of the Republic turned to the agency last year in order to attract South Korean investments to the plans.
