Astrakhan shipbuilding enterprises under contract with the enterprise “Kazakhstan Waterways” are building two vessels for the dredging fleet of Kazakhstan. This was reported on Wednesday by the press service of the head of the region with reference to the Minister of External Relations of the Astrakhan region Vladimir Golovkov.

According to him, in 2022, the Astrakhan authorities focused on cooperation with the Caspian countries and Belarus. The region actively participated in the work of international, interregional forums and intergovernmental commissions. Meetings and negotiations were held between the Governor of the Astrakhan region Igor Babushkin and members of the Astrakhan government with the leadership and members of governments, as well as with representatives of business structures of these countries. “The participants of these events have repeatedly drawn attention to the special role of the Astrakhan Region in Russia’s relations with the Caspian states and stressed the importance of the systematic work carried out by the regional authorities on comprehensive cooperation with partners in the Caspian Sea,” the minister said.
The Astrakhan region has the necessary capacity to build a fleet to increase cargo transportation along the Caspian route.
The Republic of Kazakhstan is one of the main foreign partners of the Astrakhan region. The region borders with the West Kazakhstan and Atyrau regions of Kazakhstan. According to the regional authorities, more than 30 enterprises with the participation of Kazakh capital are registered in the region. The group of exported goods includes food products and agricultural raw materials, mechanical equipment and vehicles, chemical industry products, rubber. Mineral products, foodstuffs and agricultural raw materials, chemical industry products are imported.
