The government of St. Petersburg has proposed new tourist routes at the international exhibition in New Delhi and expects an increase in the number of tourists from India. This was reported to TASS by the press service of the Congress and Exhibition Bureau of the Committee for Tourism Development of St. Petersburg.
“For example, wedding tourism is popular in India – newlyweds are increasingly holding a wedding ceremony abroad. And the Northern capital in this regard can be very interesting for them. Event and business tourism also have great potential, including attracting rotating corporate events to St. Petersburg,” the spokeswoman said.
She added that St. Petersburg presents both classic sights and ultramodern routes at the exhibition. A rich business program has been prepared for the guests of the exposition: press conferences, presentations, business meetings.
“In the 10 years preceding the pandemic, the tourist flow from India to Russia, in particular to St. Petersburg, showed steady growth. Residents of this country travel with families, sometimes large, and for quite a long time, which determines the high level of the average check,” the press service said, adding that several agreements are expected to be signed at the exhibition. Two agreements have already been signed on the very first day in order to develop business tourism: the Convention and Exhibition Bureau under the St. Petersburg Tourism Development Committee has signed partnership agreements with Network of Indian MICE Agents and SD Tripoholiday Tours and Travels Opc.
St. Petersburg is ready to take into account the requests of travelers from different countries. An example is the India Friendly program, developed by the Committee for Tourism Development with the participation of the Faculty of Tourism of St. Petersburg State University of Economics. The program is designed to popularize this city in India and create comfortable conditions for Indian guests to ensure compliance with their national cultural and food traditions, the press service of the St. Petersburg Convention and Exhibition Bureau said.
The SATTE (South Asia’s Travel & Tourism Exchange) exhibition, the official opening of which took place in the Delhi suburb of Noida, became the largest such event in the Indian capital after the pandemic.
