The election of the Chinese leader took place today during the session of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC). According to the Xinhua news Agency, the deputies unanimously voted for the candidacy of Xi Jinping for the post of chairman of the People’s Republic of China and the Central Military Commission of the country.
Vladimir Putin has already sent congratulations to the head of China – the text of the official message was published on the official website of the President of Russia.
“Russia highly appreciates your personal contribution to strengthening the relations of comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation between our states. I am confident that, working together, we will ensure the expansion of fruitful Russian-Chinese cooperation in various fields. We will continue to coordinate joint work on the most important issues of the regional and international agenda,” the message of congratulations reads.
Recall that meetings of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and the National People’s Congress of Representatives are held in the The Great Hall of the People of the PRC. The elected deputies, in addition to voting for the candidacy of the Chairman, hear reports on the work of the authorities for the previous year, approve the budget and consider other issues related to public administration.
