Russia is developing its own long-haul aircraft, its creation is planned for 2028-2030, Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

“We have been working with our partners from the People’s Republic of China on a wide-body long-haul aircraft. Taking into account all the input from Western countries, changes will be made to our bilateral project,” he said in an interview on the eve of the SPIEF, answering a question about the development of a Russian long—haul aircraft.

The joint development of the aircraft, Manturov explained, will continue. At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister clarified, Russia is also creating its own project of the liner: the Zhukovsky Institute is engaged in the research of new technologies and the definition of the appearance within the framework of the current research work “Integral”.

Answering the question when the new liner can take to the air, Manturov clarified that we are talking about the dates after 2030. “Perhaps in the period 2028-2030, but definitely not before,” he added.

Russia now has a short—haul aircraft, the Sukhoi Superjet 100, and in 2024 Russian airlines will begin serial deliveries of the medium-haul domestic aircraft MS-21.
