You can see the future of the capital, stand on nails and try yourself as a doctor at the sites of the main event of the season.
Young people are attracted to the Urban Forum by projects related to the use of digital technologies.
Muscovites and guests of the city at the sites of the XII Moscow Urban Forum (MUF) can surf for free, stand on nails under the supervision of experienced trainers, learn how to take blood from a vein, be in the place of doctors and look at the human body through the eyes of doctors, get first aid lessons, experience what elderly people experience every second, and listen to how different districts of the capital sound. The MUF, which has been focusing on urban development specialists and experts for some time, is betting on a wider audience this year. Free master classes, concerts, exhibitions, lectures, fairs and film screenings are held on the territories of the Luzhniki Olympic Complex, in Gostiny Dvor and Zaryadye Park until September 10. From August 20, another forum site will open in the Arena.
“Luzhniki” for active and sports
Most of the activities are organized in “Luzhniki”. Around the stadium there are chalets with quests and master classes, installations, exhibitions, playgrounds for sports. It will take at least a day to get around them all. Many guests come here again. “My son and I were here at the weekend and because of the large number of visitors, not everyone was able to try what they liked,” one of the forum’s visitors, Tatiana, told NG. – Now we have come specifically to swim on a sap board and surfboard.”
Water sports activities are among the most popular here. Therefore, before you get the coveted paddle and sap board, you need to stand in line for about an hour. But then you can swim against the backdrop of the beautiful Luzhniki stadium in a specially equipped pool – wide, curved, like a river, and enjoy the summer, compositions of flowers and herbs that decorate all the locations of the festival. By the way, there are no queues for wakeboard classes, because it is mandatory for all participants of this site to register through the website of the Moscow Urban Forum. There is no queue at the paddling equipment site either.
Yoga classes are held here, in the “Luzhniki”, and everyone can stand on nails. Organizers and volunteers promise daredevils only benefit and stimulation of all the necessary points on the feet – without pain and unnecessary injuries. But not everyone decides on such a procedure, even if they have already taken off their shoes. “When I watched from the side, it seemed that there was nothing complicated. But I could not stand on these points – I’m afraid,” explained the girl Lisa. Those who did not dare to stand on nails, do not want to stand in line, and were late with the recording, can play beach volleyball on soft sand, get a painting lesson, look at a slow-moving (microscopic invertebrate. – “NG”) through a microscope or walk along the rows of chalets with Moscow brands presented here.
Also at this MUF site, you can participate in quests, listen to the sounds made by animals and birds of the city, train dogs or take a picture of your eye, which will become part of an art object. Photographing the iris at the stand “Through the Eyes of Muscovites”. All participants of this project receive printed pictures with images of their eyes as a keepsake. From digital copies, the organizers collect collages in the form of one of the iconic places in Moscow – for example, Zaryadye Park, Ostankino Tower, Luzhniki Stadium, VDNH. And then the finished pictures are shown on the big screen. “If I manage to come here again, I will make my makeup brighter,” one of the visitors told the NG correspondent, laughing. “Otherwise, I don’t recognize myself in these collages – there are a lot of other people’s arrows and brown shadows in the photo.”
Gostiny Dvor – social responsibility zone
The main theme of the MUF site in Gostiny Dvor is the development of the social sphere of the city. Lectures for doctors on trends in clinical research, immunoprophylaxis, and professional burnout are held here. Visitors can study the achievements of scientists in the field of prosthetics, try themselves as doctors and even “try on old age”. To do this, you need to wear a special suit that allows you to understand what older people are experiencing and why some things are very difficult for them. “I was sweating all over while I was in this old man’s suit. Of course, it has always been clear to me that old age is not a joy, and I am tolerant of old people. But I also wanted to personally experience this costume to understand what awaits. The prospects are sad, but I hope that I will find how to entertain myself at the age of 80,” admitted the visitor Andrey, dropping weights and other devices designed to create in healthy people a feeling of physical weakness, tremor and difficulty in orientation due to age–related ailments.
You can unwind and warm up after the costume with weights at the stands with dances, where you need to repeat the movements of the characters on the screens and put your feet on the right arrows. Or at a stand with bicycle simulators, where training sessions are held for everyone.
Visitors who are interested in medicine can try what it’s like to be a doctor. In the hall with silicone mannequins – heads, arms, legs, torsos, as they say, in the assortment – you can learn how to take blood from a vein and provide first aid. Trainings are conducted by professional doctors. “Visually draw a line and put your palm like this,” paramedic Alexander explained to the curious teenager. “Then we start indirect heart massage and continue it until the ambulance arrives.”
At the next simulator, the visitor was listening to various variants of the heartbeat of a silicone mannequin, and a cardiologist was selecting rhythms for her using a computer program. “What pathology do you want?” – she asked the inquisitive guest.
“If you behave badly, your uncle will make holes in your teeth,” a woman at a stand with a simulator of a dentist’s workplace menacingly frightened a disobedient child. The child ignored the threats and continued to move impatiently on the spot, waiting for a place to be vacated on the doctor’s simulator and it would be his turn to treat his teeth, even virtual ones – the visualization looked very realistic.
Zaryadye Park allows you to look into the future Zaryadye Concert Hall, a single exhibition space “A City for Everyone” has opened, where installations dedicated to the changes awaiting the capital in the coming years, as well as 10 megaprojects of Moscow are presented. “This is our central exhibition exhibit,” a forum volunteer greets the NG correspondent. – Megaprojects of Moscow is a multimedia kinetic art object. In order to get the necessary information, you just need to select the appropriate project on the control panel. For example, the renovation program, the creation of the transport framework of Moscow or the development of technology parks and research centers.”
Nearby there is a stand with a helicopter flight simulation over Moscow. Opposite is an interactive exposition where you can listen to how the industrial zones of the city sounded. And there is a stand nearby where you can test yourself on the knowledge of new sights of the metropolis. “On the map you can find, for example, the Irina Viner Gymnastics Palace, the Floating Bridge and the Zaryadye Park itself,” says a forum volunteer.
The events of the main business program of the Moscow-2030 forum are also taking place at the Zaryadye site. A city looking to the future.” Foreign and Russian speakers – representatives of the government, expert and business community – discuss here the latest trends in urbanism and what makes cities competitive.
In addition, a large–scale festival program has been organized in the park for everyone who is just interested in the development of the capital – “The City. People. The future.” It consists of hundreds of events and discussions about the directions of Moscow’s development. Visitors will find a lot of educational, cultural and sporting events that will help to get into the spirit of the city.
There is also enough entertainment – every day there are film screenings, lectures, discussions, shows of popular artists, classical music concerts, dance workshops, yoga classes on the Floating Bridge and training with professional athletes. Famous personalities tell the guests of the festival about art, fashion, architecture and projects affecting the life of the city, and tea ceremonies and ballet lessons are waiting for visitors in the art meditation space. The schedule of activities can be found on the website of Zaryadye or the Moscow Urban Forum.
The arena will surprise guests with a huge hologram and transport megaprojects
The platform will join the Moscow Urban Forum in mid-August and will be dedicated to Moscow’s achievements in the field of transport in recent years. Thanks to interesting stands and installations, visitors to Manege Station will be able to learn about the present and future of the capital’s transport system: what new stations will appear, how rolling stock will be updated, what will happen to city stations.
In the stylized depot at the entrance to the Arena, guests will be able to see the modern trains “Ivolga 3.0” and “Moscow 2020” – both outside and inside.
On the first floor of the exhibition, visitors will find the largest hologram in Russia with a height of 37 m and a huge diode screen the size of a nine-story house. There will also be six exposition and exhibition spaces, including zones dedicated to the Moscow Central Diameters, the Bolshaya Koltsevaya Metro Line, the Moscow Central Ring, as well as expositions dedicated to the construction of railway stations, stations and highways.
Guests will be able to visit the cars of metro trains and Moscow Central diameters. Visitors will also be offered to control a train simulator of the Bolshaya Koltsevaya Metro Line. In addition, they will be able to attend interesting master classes in the lecture hall of the Manege and even submit a resume at the stand “Moscow Transport is people” to become part of the team of the capital’s transport complex.
On the ground floor there is a large family leisure center with an area of more than 600 sq. m, where children can visit a motorcycle school (where they can ride, for example, on cross-country bikes), do modeling, learn how to inspect rolling stock independently, as well as take part in master classes, quizzes and quests on transport topics and receive a variety of gifts and souvenirs. A separate area is provided for kids – a dry pool and a corner for creativity will be installed for them.
As NG has already reported, the Moscow Urban Forum started on August 1 and will last until September 10. The event brings together representatives of city authorities, architects, urban planners, investors and urbanists, as well as citizens interested in the development of the metropolis. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin called the forum the main phenomenon of the second half of summer and invited guests to visit its entertainment and business programs. The main venues of the event are located in the Zaryadye Park, in the Luzhniki Olympic Complex, in the Manege Central Exhibition Hall and in the Gostiny Dvor. Also, within the framework of the forum, the festival in support of local business “Nepalny District” was launched in Moscow for the first time. In more than 20 places in different districts, residents of the city will be able to get acquainted with the products of local manufacturers every weekend. The list of sites and the detailed program of the sites are posted on the website of the municipal district.RF.
