Roscosmos took part in the 45th session of the Interstate Council for Geodesy, Cartography, Cadastre and Remote Sensing of the Earth of the CIS member states.
During the meeting, the directions of cooperation of the CIS countries for the coming year in the field of geodesy, cartography and remote sensing were determined. One of the main issues that was considered at the session of the Interstate Council was the creation of a single geoportal of the CIS countries on spatial data.
At the same time, the representative of the Roscosmos State Corporation, Deputy Director of the Department Valery Zaichko, spoke about the importance and necessity of using remote sensing data from space in the interests of the cartographic industry not only in the Russian Federation, but also in the CIS countries as a whole.
“Roscosmos State Corporation has been cooperating with Rosreestr for many years in terms of providing remote sensing data from space by conducting operational space surveys and providing archival data from the federal data fund, as well as relevant services and services.
The provision of remote sensing data from Russian state remote sensing stations of scientific and socio-economic purpose from the total volume of required territories since 2014 has risen from 16.7% to almost 100% in 2019-2022.
Currently, Roscosmos continues to interact with Rosreestr, organizing the interaction of the federal fund for Remote Sensing data from Space with the National Spatial Data System,” Valery Zaichko noted during the report.
The participants of the session paid great attention to the proposal of Roscosmos to create a separate working group on remote sensing within the framework of the Interstate Council, taking into account the importance of this area of work using not only space, but also unmanned and ground-based technical means of observation.
