On December 13, 2023, Ruslan Kazakbayev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Turkey, met with Burak Akcapar, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.
During the meeting, a wide range of topical issues of bilateral cooperation in the political, trade, economic, military-technical, cultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed, as well as the implementation of agreements reached within the framework of political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Republic, held on October 4, 2023 in Istanbul.
The results of the parties’ interaction during 2023 were summed up, as well as the schedule of upcoming events was reviewed and planned visits and meetings at the highest and high levels in the coming year were discussed.
The parties discussed in detail the issues of developing and deepening bilateral trade and economic relations and increasing mutual trade turnover between the countries, including through the establishment of the Kyrgyz-Turkish Development Fund (investment Fund), as well as issues of attracting Turkish investments to the Kyrgyz Republic and resolving issues related to the entrepreneurial activities of Turkish companies in Kyrgyzstan.
During the meeting, issues of deepening cooperation in the educational sphere between the countries were also discussed, as well as preparations for the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.
The Kyrgyz side also noted the importance of the early resumption of the implementation of the Agreement on Cooperation in the field of health and medical sciences, which provides for the annual free treatment of 150 citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in medical institutions in Turkey and requested that the quota be expanded to 500 people per year.
The issues of mutual trips of citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Turkey, simplification of the conditions of stay and extension of the validity period of the visa-free regime for citizens of the two states were also discussed.
