Dmitry Chernyshenko congratulated scientists on the Day of Russian Science

“Science is the driver of the development of any state. It is scientists who are the first to accept the technological and other challenges facing the country. Science today is working to fulfill the practical tasks set by President Vladimir Putin to achieve technological sovereignty, providing a link between education, scientific research, and technological entrepreneurship for the successful implementation of specific projects. This applies to areas such as genetics, biology, physics, thermonuclear energy, artificial intelligence and other areas. For example, thanks to the national scientific school, we were the first in the world to create a vaccine against covid,” the Deputy Prime Minister said.

He recalled that in the Decade of Science and Technology, announced by the President of Russia, the profession of a scientist is becoming more popular and prestigious every year. Thus, according to VTsIOM, 65% of parents would like their children to connect their lives with science. Also, for the first time in the history of modern Russia, the outflow of scientific personnel has been stopped – this is the most important indicator confirming the relevance of a scientist’s work.

Dmitry Chernyshenko noted the largest event for scientists this year.

“Russian science has been forged for centuries: this year we celebrate the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences and honor those who put their soul, strength and knowledge into strengthening the research potential of our country. For the effective solution of strategic tasks, the contribution of each of the 340 thousand scientists of Russia is important, among which more than 100 thousand are representatives of scientific youth,” he added.

There are 15 world-class scientific and educational centers in the country, 36 subjects, 157 universities, 142 scientific organizations and 383 industrial partners are involved in their work. The Megagrants program, the Advanced Engineering Schools federal project, and the Priority 2030 state program are also being implemented.

In Russia, within the framework of the national project “Science and Universities”, megascience class projects have been launched, which have no analogues in the world and surpass existing installations in their characteristics. Initiatives of this level make it possible to provide scientists with qualitatively new conditions for further promising developments.

In conclusion, Dmitry Chernyshenko wished the scientists success and new discoveries for the benefit of Russian science: “The history of our Motherland confirms that strong science is a strong Russia. This means that we will cope with all the tasks together. Happy holidays! Happy Russian Science Day!”
