On February 21, on the sidelines of the meeting of the foreign ministers of the G20 states in Rio de Janeiro, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Mexican Foreign Minister A. Barcena Ibarra.
Topical issues of Russian-Mexican relations were discussed, including those related to deepening bilateral political dialogue, developing cooperation in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian fields, as well as improving the contractual and legal framework.
Sergey Lavrov and A. Barsena Ibarra exchanged views on certain key international and regional topics, including cooperation between the two countries in the UN, the Group of Twenty, and APEC. The importance of preserving the non-politicized nature of the G20’s work in order to increase its effectiveness was emphasized.
