We held the first meeting of the Joint Permanent Commission for Cooperation with Zimbabwe, which was established following the agreements reached during the visit of the President of the Republic of Belarus to Zimbabwe in January last year.

We have conducted a comprehensive analysis of the implementation of the agreements reached by the leaders of our two countries. We analyzed the progress of joint projects. We noted significant progress in many areas, an increase in exports of Belarusian products, which amounted to 103 percent last year. We have noted a number of successfully implemented projects, primarily in the field of agricultural mechanization. Two phases of this project have been implemented. The project, from my point of view, is historical. A project that allowed Zimbabwe to achieve self-sufficiency in wheat production. By the end of 2023, Zimbabwe began exporting wheat to third countries for the first time in its history. We have noted the progressive progress in many areas of the social dimension: in the field of health, education, interuniversity cooperation is actively developing. Of course, we have outlined new promising projects that we expect to be implemented in the very near future. First of all, I would mention the agreement on the assembly of our passenger and bus equipment, cooperation in the mining industry, and the start of deliveries of dairy products and baby food. We have analyzed the legal framework of our relations and outlined a number of draft bilateral agreements that will be prepared and, hopefully, signed during the upcoming visit of President of the Republic of Zimbabwe Emmerson Mnangagwa to the Republic of Belarus in 2024. In addition, we discussed the possibility of joint cooperation with third countries in Southern Africa, primarily Mozambique and Botswana. We have agreed to multiply the successful results of our cooperation in the field of agricultural mechanization, agricultural technology development, education, and healthcare and promote these areas jointly in cooperation with Mozambique and Botswana. In general, our bilateral cooperation with Zimbabwe is moving upward. We hope that all the agreements that we reached during the meeting of the joint commission will be implemented. We agreed in the middle of the year to conduct an interim review of the implementation of our agreements in order to prepare a meaningful agenda and content for the upcoming visit of the President of Zimbabwe to our country.
