The MIR TV channel organized folk festivals on the territory of the Izmailovo equestrian center. With pancakes, folk dances and songs. Families of diplomats from the CIS countries and employees of the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth took part in the “farewell to winter”. Dmitry Karataev, a correspondent of the MIR 24 TV channel, watched our colleagues and viewers spend the winter noisily and brightly.
Maslenitsa in Russia was traditionally celebrated on a grand scale. The real Rampage is here too. For example, a broomball is a ball and a broom. Everyone is involved. After a few seconds, real excitement and passion for the game appear. Fun for the whole family.
All the traditional Russian fun in one place: an unusual shooting range with wooden blocks and baskets, a relay race in felt boots, a jenga – the construction of a tower of bars for elimination. They immediately measure themselves with heroic strength – they try to get a sword out of a stump.
World Carnival was celebrated at the Izmailovo Equestrian Club. A hobbyhorsing competition was held for the youngest participants – a competition for speed, agility and skill riding a toy stallion.
One of the most popular places for guests of the Carnival festivities was a tour of the stable and pony riding. And these stallions from Maslenitsa were taken home with them as a mascot of the holiday. A horse made of straw is a male amulet – a symbol of success and wealth.
“Lyko da mochalo – start over is an old Russian proverb, it refers to this material, from which household items and also children’s toys were previously made. This is a horse made of bast, toys were made of bast, Shrovetide dolls were made,” said Yevgenia Pavlyuchenko, a master of folk crafts.
The girls brought beauty – decorated kokoshniks. These headdresses were worn by all women in Russia – from peasants to queens. The master classes taught traditional Khokhloma painting of wooden dishes.
“I’m decorating the berries. I will cover it with varnish and I will eat it,” said Mikhail Sokolov, a young participant in the master class.
“So far, I’m decorating a spoon in the mandala style, I just like it, it turns out very beautifully, I decided to make such a colored one. For me, Maslenitsa is a national holiday, and it is associated with childhood,” said Ekaterina Popova, a participant in the master class.
The wide Maslenitsa was held by the Mir TV and radio company. For more than 30 years now, we have been broadcasting with love and talking about the most interesting things in Russia and the world. And we regularly meet with our viewers like this – face to face.
“I liked the idea of holding this holiday and the fact that it is really a family holiday, because children have something to do here, and adults are interested,” said Elena Bondarenko, head of the corporate culture department of the pharmaceutical company.
“We baked pancakes, there were very tasty treats, I made a beautiful kokoshnik with my own hands,” said Rimma Asamova, the wife of a diplomat at the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Russia.
“I made a spoon like this, it was very interesting. There was also an acquaintance with horses, the atmosphere itself, you could learn how to ride them, and, of course, make wonderful crafts,” shared Anna and Alice Filippov (family of an employee of the CIS Executive Committee).
Mir gave branded souvenirs on Shrovetide. The presenters of the TV channel baked pancakes and treated the guests. And after that, they all started dancing together. The culmination of the holiday is the burning of an effigy of Maslenitsa. According to folk signs, this is how people got rid of the gloomy past, saw off winter and welcomed the arrival of warmth and spring.
