As part of the implementation of the decisions taken following the results of the second Russia-Africa Summit in July 2023 in St. Petersburg on the provision of humanitarian assistance to a number of African states, and in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin, 25 thousand tons of Russian wheat were supplied to the Republic of Zimbabwe free of charge. At the same time, the Uralchem-Uralkali Group of companies donated 23 thousand tons of mineral fertilizers to Zimbabweans. On March 20, an official cargo acceptance ceremony was held in Harare with the participation of President of the Republic of Zimbabwe E. Mnangagwa, high-ranking representatives of the Government and Parliament. The Russian side was represented by the Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Harare, N.V.Krasilnikov.

In his speech, E. Mnangagwa expressed sincere gratitude to the Russian Federation for its timely support, emphasizing Russia’s leading role in preventing the global food crisis. Zimbabweans regard the supply of grain and fertilizers as evidence of the high level of relations between Moscow and Harare, a manifestation of Russia’s sincere desire to see Zimbabwe a prosperous country. E. Mnangagwa noted the long-term strong relations between the two states, which originated during the years of the national liberation struggle and continue to deepen even in the face of illegal sanctions by Westerners. Mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries includes a wide range of areas in both the economic and humanitarian spheres.

For our part, we are pleased to note that Zimbabwe is our reliable and time–tested ally on the African continent. The bilateral political dialogue is successfully developing, trade and economic cooperation is expanding. Vladimir Putin and E. Mnangagwa have met several times: the last time was in July 2023 in St. Petersburg at the Russia-Africa Summit, to which the Zimbabwean leader arrived at the head of a representative national delegation.
