The Assembly of the Peoples of Eurasia announces the International Competition of Youth Historical Projects “Let's Preserve the Truth about the Victory!”

In 2024, many countries of Eurasia will celebrate the 80th anniversary of liberation from Nazi occupation. Young heirs of the Great Victory, who realize the greatness of the feat of their ancestors, can make a significant contribution to the preservation of the world heritage of humanity.

The Assembly of Eurasian Peoples, the public organization “Immortal Memory” and the Congress of Russian Communities of the Republic of Moldova invite you to take part in the International Competition of Youth Historical Projects “Let’s Preserve the Truth about the Victory!”.

The winners will be invited to participate in the project of the Assembly of Eurasian Peoples “Memory Twinning” – an action of youth exchanges – international humanitarian cooperation. In 2024 the action will be held in Moscow and Volgograd.

In the Year of Volunteer Movement in the CIS countries the contest will become one of the forms of organizing youth volunteer activities to collect and disseminate information about memorial sites and about the heroes who saved the world from the brown plague.

The main goals of the contest: preservation of historical truth about the Great Patriotic War; formation of memorial culture, feeling of involvement in the Victors’ feat; development of youth volunteer movement in the sphere of historical heritage preservation and international youth cooperation.

Participants of the Contest: young people aged 15-25 years of the participating countries, including youth author’s teams (not more than two people). Any participant may submit several projects.

Thematic directions
– Soldiers of Victory
A story about the participants of the Great Patriotic War connected with the history of liberation of your country.
– Fighting path of the liberators
A story about a military formation that liberated your country, or about a border outpost, military hospital, partisan detachment, underground organization, etc.
– Territory of Memory
A story about a memorial, war grave, large or small museum on the territory of your country.

Requirements to the works
The contest project should be based on photo and video recording of historical documents, artifacts or memorial objects related to the described event, or on the search for archival data (electronic archives of documents “History Network”, “The People’s Victory”, “Memory of the People”, OBD “Memorial”, etc. can be used).
This can be a story about a historical event related to the liberation of the city or district from Nazi occupation, about a military formation that took part in the battles for your city/district, or soldiers who became famous in these battles, confirmed by archival or museum documents and photographs. The story about the museum or memorial should also contain information of search character about the creators and keepers of the memorial site or/and about the soldiers whose names are immortalized.
The works submitted to the Competition must be made directly by the participants of the Competition and contain the results of independent research. Works of abstract nature will not be accepted by the Organizing Committee.

Acceptance of applications for participation in the Competition is open until March 1, 2024. In March, free master classes on working with archives, photography and videography (in online format) will be held for the Contest participants.

Awarding
All participants who have submitted their author’s projects to the Contest and meet the above requirements will receive personalized certificates of participation in the international volunteer project. The winners will be awarded with certificates and prizes according to the decision of the jury.
The most interesting works will be published on the websites of the contest organizers, and their authors will take part in international cultural and educational forums and will be invited to participate in the project of the Assembly of Eurasian Peoples “Memory Twinning” – an action of youth international humanitarian cooperation. In 2024 the action will be held in Moscow and Volgograd.
