The oil pipeline will resume operation on April 11

The Caspian Pipeline Consortium has stopped for scheduled repairs since April 9, 2024. Work has begun on the maintenance and connection of new equipment at the facilities of the Tengiz-Novorossiysk oil trunk pipeline.
Such 72-hour pumping stops along the pipeline occur at least twice a year, their schedule is coordinated in advance with all shippers, as well as with the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the CPC reported.
Scheduled shutdowns are required to carry out those types of maintenance, repair and connection of equipment that cannot be carried out on existing equipment.
Among the most important works for April 2024, it is planned:

  • to connect a new section of the pipeline at km 266 (transition under the Atyrau-Astrakhan highway under construction),
  • replace a number of shut-off valves with NPS,
  • eliminate pipeline defects, replace four electrical insulating inserts with coils,
  • replace electric drives with new ones with adjustment for opening and closing shut-off valves on the linear part,
  • technical re-equipment of the pressure control unit at the Marine Terminal,
  • replacement of uninterruptible power supplies,
  • scheduled maintenance of various oil pipeline systems, oil pumping stations and the Marine Terminal (mechanical and technological equipment, power and electrical equipment, instrumentation and automation systems, control systems).
At the moment, the shipment of oil at the CPC Marine Terminal has also been stopped. Its resumption is scheduled from April 11, which will be announced later.
