Question: Reports are spreading in the media that Tajik citizens are allegedly not allowed to enter the territory of the Russian Federation by land routes through the territory of Kazakhstan. How could you comment on this?

Answer: The situation on the land sections of the Russian-Kazakh border, where foreign citizens are allowed to pass, is associated with increased security measures that the Russian side is obliged to take in the wake of the large-scale terrorist attack on March 22 at Crocus City Hall and in connection with the preservation of the terrorist threat. This causes the need for verification measures carried out by our border control authorities at checkpoints, which are carried out regardless of the nationality of persons crossing the border.

At the same time, we would like to emphasize that the information in media reports about the number of vehicles “stuck” at border crossings is exaggerated. At the moment, their total number does not exceed three dozen. When organizing the passage of the border, our border service pays priority attention to children, women and the elderly.

At the same time, more than 40% of foreign citizens seek to leave Russia through these points after 90 days (out of 180 days) in order to immediately return back and, thus, get the opportunity to stay in the country for the next 90 days.

Russian border guards are in direct contact with foreign partners with whom we have a visa-free regime in order to resolve emerging issues in the spirit of good neighborliness, as well as partnership in security and counterterrorism issues.
