Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the ceremony of awarding state awards, higher military and special ranks, class ranks, the press service of Akorda reported (from the Kazakh Belaya Stavka, the official residence of the head of state – Sputnik).
He congratulated the participants of the ceremony on Defender of the Fatherland Day (celebrated on May 7) and Victory Day. He noted that these holidays, embodying the continuity of military traditions, demonstrate loyalty to the heroic path of our ancestors.
“Today, the valiant Kazakh army has become a reliable shield of territorial integrity and stability in the country. Our glorious warriors are vigilantly guarding the preservation of peace and prosperity. They are always ready to defend their sacred Homeland,” he said.
Tokayev said that there is a place for exploits in peacetime and recalled that this year Kazakhstan faced unprecedented floods over the past 80 years.
“During this difficult period, the servicemen of the National Guard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Security Committee, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the personnel of the State Security Service were on the front line, demonstrating a vivid example of loyalty to the oath,” the President noted.
More than 9,000 soldiers were involved in the fight against large-scale floods. Over a thousand pieces of equipment have been delivered.
The Head of State stressed that we always remember and honor the front-line soldiers and home front workers who, at the cost of incredible hardships, brought Victory closer. He said that the participants of the war receive additional payments every year on Victory Day. This year, this amount is up to 3 million tenge for each veteran.
He recalled that since this year, on his initiative, the names of our legendary compatriots Sagadat Nurmagambetov, Bauyrzhan Momyshuly, Rakhymzhan Koshkarbayev have been assigned to three degrees of the Order of “Aybin”. The bravery and courage of such worthy sons of the people is an example for current and future generations of defenders of the Fatherland.
As the President stated, today, in conditions of increasing geostrategic turbulence, the importance of a strong and combat-ready army is significantly increasing.
“Our military personnel demonstrate professionalism and impeccable combat training by participating in various peacekeeping operations under the auspices of the United Nations. Recently, for the first time, Kazakhstan received a United Nations mandate to independently carry out a mission in the Golan Heights. In recent years, we have significantly strengthened our position in the ranking of the military power of the countries of the world – this clearly indicates the high combat readiness and coherence of our troops,” Tokayev said.
At the same time, he stressed that Kazakhstan has proven itself to the whole world as a peace-loving state and has established friendly relations with all countries.
“We are confident that any conflict should be resolved through constructive dialogue. However, one should not be careless and do nothing. Our army must be ready to fight back against various threats. A strong army is the backbone of the country,” Tokayev said.
The President noted that work on improving professional training and modernization of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan will continue
