Belarus and Russia have great potential in the field of education. This idea was broadcast by the participants of the joint board of the Ministry of Education of Belarus and the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation. There were seven key issues on the agenda of the meeting, but the experts discussed many more relevant topics. The participants shared their best practices and made interesting suggestions. The development of unified approaches in methodological work, the organization of the Belarusian-Russian resource center for scientific and methodological support of pedagogical classes, the patriotic agenda are only a small part of the discussions. Another striking result of the meeting was the decision to establish the Association of Colleges of the Union State.

“The results are higher than we expected,” Dmitry Mezentsev, Secretary of State of the Union State, commented on the results of the meeting. And clarified:

“It was decided to create an Association of secondary specialized educational institutions of Belarus and Russia after the successful work shown by the Association of Schools of Belarus and Russia, which already includes more than 500 teaching teams and almost 100,000 students, primarily in the European regions of the Russian Federation and in all regions of Belarus without exception.”

The new initiative should increase the prestige of the working profession in the Union State. Unified approaches are needed in training high-quality personnel for the real sector of the economies of the two countries, Belarusian Education Minister Andrei Ivanets is convinced. According to him, the unification of approaches to the development and implementation of educational programs in colleges will allow the formation of comparable competencies important for the labor market of Belarus and Russia.

Experts agreed that the patriotic agenda at school should be dominant today. They also noted that the exchange programs aimed at schoolchildren and students of the two countries have reached such a level that it is possible to make separate programs so that the younger generation sees the joint history and knows firsthand about the heroic past of the Soviet people.

The experts did not ignore the topics of quality and content of modern textbooks for schools and colleges, the development of inclusive education. We discussed the issue of information interaction. The Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergey Kravtsov shared the Russian experience, said that the state information system “My School” has been created in the country. It is an educational platform with unified access to digital services and educational materials for students, teachers and parents.

Meanwhile,

The issues of border protection at the external border of the Union State were discussed in Grodno at the 60th meeting of the Board of the Border Committee of the Union State. It was about developing a set of measures to adjust the construction of border protection, taking into account existing challenges and threats to border security. Secretary of State of the Union State Dmitry Mezentsev, summing up the results of the board, noted:

– We see a special level, a special quality of professional interaction of those people who are entrusted with the high responsibility of protecting the unified border of the Union State. The Board showed a special atmosphere of interaction, camaraderie – this is an example for many colleagues in the CIS, but also a fact that representatives of unfriendly countries are obliged to take into account as a factor of reliability of our military cooperation.
