Russian Railways Logistics plans to expand the geography of the Agroexpress service this year and launch it to Uzbekistan and the Persian Gulf countries, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the company’s CEO Dmitry Murev
“As for both Uzbekistan and the Persian Gulf, we expect to launch the Agroexpress service regularly in 2024,” Murev said on the sidelines of the SPIEF.
Agroexpress mainly plans to deliver poultry meat, butter, dairy products, grain from Russia, and in the opposite direction – fruit and vegetable products and consumer goods.
“In any case, together with Agroexpress to Uzbekistan and Central Asia in general, we have adopted a strategy for ourselves that we will make mixed trains, this allows us to act more flexibly,” added Murev.
Russian Railways Logistics has already carried out test shipments of poultry meat to Iran, which showed the interest of the Persian Gulf countries in Russian exports. “Negotiations are currently underway to clarify the technical parameters of these shipments, said the General Director of Russian Railways Logistics.
Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin stated the need to continue the design and construction of agricultural hubs and trade and logistics centers along the route of the Eurasian Agroexpress project.
Recall that Agroexpress is a service for the delivery of agricultural products in refrigerated and universal containers, as well as in flexitanks (elastic liner chambers for the transportation of liquid goods that are placed inside the container). Delivery takes place in a short time, in compliance with the temperature regime and the requirements of phytosanitary and veterinary control.
The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) was held on June 5-8.
