At a meeting on Friday, the Armenian government approved the ratification of the free trade agreement between the EAEU member states and Iran, signed on December 25, 2023 in St. Petersburg.
The main objectives of the agreement are to use the regulatory part of the interim agreement as the basis for negotiations within the framework of the free trade agreement, ensuring access to the maximum number of goods to the Iranian market without customs duties, while ensuring that the access conditions contained in the interim agreement do not worsen.
The agreement regulates a wide range of issues of economic cooperation, in particular, simplification and stimulation of mutual trade, protection of the internal market, customs regulation, competitiveness, public procurement and a number of other issues.
Within the framework of the agreement, the Iranian side, for the first time in the practice of its international trade agreements, establishes obligations to zero customs duties on imports.
