How Belgidromet is modernizing weather forecasting methods, Tatyana Chetyotko, head of the meteorological forecasting service of Belgidromet, told reporters during a press tour, BelTA correspondent reports.
“Belgidromet is trying to introduce artificial intelligence methods into its work. We calculate a numerical model at our facilities. In addition, our specialists and programmers are currently trying to implement neural network elements in test mode. Scientific research is being carried out in terms of hydrological forecasts. This is how we try to use all the latest technologies and improve the quality of our forecasts in all ways,” Tatyana Chetyorenko said.
According to her, satellite information is also one of the main tools for weather forecasting, along with data from surface meteorological stations. At the same time, special weather satellites should be used for meteorological purposes.
“If until recently the main supplier of satellite information was the European Space Agency, now we are in close contact with Roshydromet, which is expanding its grouping of meteorological satellites. The scientific organization “Planet” processes this data and provides us with relevant information,” said the head of the meteorological forecasting service of Belhydromet.
