On July 18, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Vershinin held a meeting in New York with the UN Humanitarian Coordinator for the situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, M. Hadi.
The interlocutors discussed in detail the current situation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone, with an emphasis on the situation in the Gaza Strip in the context of the continuation of the Israeli military operation. It was confirmed that the tasks of establishing sustainable and safe humanitarian access, providing comprehensive assistance to all victims and those in need are far from being solved and remain the cornerstone conditions for stabilizing the situation and overcoming the crisis.
In addition, the developments in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, as well as in Lebanon and Syria, were considered. It was noted that the ongoing bloodshed in the Gaza Strip provokes an increase in tension there and poses a threat of further expansion of confrontation on a regional scale.
