The 37th International Exhibition of Snow Sculptures has opened in Harbin in northeast China. One of the main exhibits was a 20-meter-high snowman, writes People’s Daily, a partner of the TV BRICS network.
Mr. Snowman is located on the island of Taiyandao, also known as the Island of the Sun. It took 4,000 cubic meters of snow to create the sculpture.
A giant snowman in a top hat attracted the attention of tourists, becoming a vivid symbol of the winter holiday in the city. Visitors take photos with the exhibit and shoot videos.
Earlier, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) included the Spring Festival, the traditional Chinese Lunar New Year, in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Mankind. In 2025, residents of the country will celebrate this holiday from January 29 for 15 days. The symbol of the coming year is a Green Wooden Snake.
