The Rio de Janeiro State government has launched the ECO Funarj program, aimed at converting eight public cultural institutions to renewable energy. According to Toda Palavra, a partner of the TV BRICS network, it is planned to install more than 800 solar panels and create five energy production stations.
It is specified that the stations will operate in six theaters, as well as supply energy to two museums.
Jackson Emerick, head of the Funarj Foundation, emphasized that the project will not only provide institutions with clean energy, but will also be an important step in combining art and sustainable development.
Currently, four institutions have already received the necessary equipment. Accumulated energy credits (energy units accumulated as a result of energy production from renewable sources) will be used to reduce energy costs in other cultural facilities.
