The Ethiopian leadership presented a roadmap for the development of digital agriculture, a long–term strategy for modernizing the agricultural sector and increasing production through digital technologies. This is reported by Fana Media Corporation (FMC), a partner of the TV BRICS network.
It is specified that the document was developed by the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic in cooperation with the Institute of Agricultural Transformation and is designed for the period from 2025 to 2032.
The new strategy aims to create a sustainable and thriving digital ecosystem for farmers. According to the Minister of Agriculture, Girma Amente, digitalization plays a key role in improving the agricultural sector, and thanks to this roadmap, farmers will be able to receive consultations via smartphones.
In addition, the roadmap involves maintaining a single database with up-to-date information about the agricultural sector. It is noted that the system will simplify access to financial services, as well as increase productivity through effective interaction of all participants in the agricultural chain.
Minister of Innovation and Technology Belete Molla stressed that digitalization of agriculture will increase production through prompt decision-making based on accurate data analysis.
