Moscow welcomes the successful holding of March 2 in the Republic of Tajikistan (RT) elections of deputies of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli, the lower house of the Parliament of the Republic of Tatarstan.
We share the high assessments of the organization of the electoral process given by international observers. The voting process was monitored by the missions The Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Parliamentary Assemblies of the CIS and the CSTO, as well as other multilateral structures. They noted the open nature and transparency of the elections, which were held in a calm atmosphere, in strict accordance with national legislation and international standards.
According to preliminary data from the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Tajikistan, the People’s Democratic Party of Tajikistan, led by President Emomali Rahmon, is winning a landslide victory. This is an obvious evidence of the broad approval by the Tajik people of E.S. Rahmon’s course and the political and economic reforms he initiated.
We confirm our principled commitment to further strengthening Russian-Tajik relations of alliance and strategic partnership. We believe that the development of cooperation between the highest legislative bodies of the two countries will play an important role in this process.
