On the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov in the VII Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-building Measures in Asia
On October 15, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov attended the seventh summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-building Measures in Asia (CICA) in Baku.
The agenda of the discussions focused on the prospects for the development of the CICA, the processes of its adaptation to changes in the foreign policy environment.
The Russian side emphasized the importance of harmoniously integrating the Conference into the emerging cooperative architecture in Eurasia in the interests of creating a continental-wide contour of equal and indivisible security and seamless cross-border socio-economic interconnectedness.
Sergey Lavrov confirmed Russia’s unwavering course towards deepening practical cooperation on the CICA platform, including in the areas of international information security and support for small and medium-sized businesses that we oversee. Other priorities include promoting contacts through volunteer associations and promoting mechanisms for applied cooperation in the industrial sector. The Russian contribution to the consolidation of transport and logistics chains in the CICA area was noted.
Russia welcomed the extension of Azerbaijan’s chairmanship in the CICA for 2027-2028, and supported Laos’ accession to the Meeting as a full member.
