A new royal decree updates the rules for obtaining the status of a citizen of Saudi Arabia. According to the new rules, the children of Saudi women married to foreign men can now apply for citizenship after reaching the age of 18.

According to the business magazine Arabian Business, applicants must be born and reside in one of the countries of the Persian Gulf. In addition, the future subject is obliged to be fluent in Arabic, as well as to differ in behavior – the candidate will not be considered if there is information about imprisonment for more than six months in his biography.

According to the legislation before the new decree, exclusively the Saudi father transferred the citizenship of Saudi Arabia to children.
