This year, more than 1,000 companies are taking part in the fair. The total area of the territory on which the fair is deployed reaches 200 thousand square meters and occupies 28 halls.

The fair will last until January 29. The organizers believe that this year more than 140 thousand people will become its visitors.

The goal is to become one of the five largest exporters in the world

Speaking at the opening of the fair, Deputy Minister of Trade of Turkey Ryza Tuna Turagay noted that the furniture industry is one of the sectors of the Turkish economy whose exports contribute to a positive trade balance.

According to him, currently the volume of exports of the sector is more than four billion dollars. Turagai noted that the furniture sector of Turkey fully claims to be among the top five in the world. Due to the high production rates and high quality of products, Turkish furniture supplies to 200 countries, the representative of the Ministry noted.

“The product sales markets are constantly diversifying, the furniture sector of Turkey has a bright future ahead of it,” he said.

According to Turagai, the EU countries are the most important market for furniture products from Turkey, but the share of EU countries in the export basket of the sector is quite low.

In this regard, representatives of the sector are implementing special projects that will correct the situation, the Deputy minister assured. Turagai also drew attention to the need to increase supplies to the United States. Turagai expressed confidence that the Istanbul Furniture Fair will make a significant contribution to the development of the country’s furniture sector and will allow entering major markets.

The head of the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Rifat Hisardziklioglu noted in turn that the fair will bring together the most significant representatives of the furniture sector within six days. “Last year, the export of furniture from Turkey amounted to 4.7 billion dollars. The goal is to become one of the five largest exporters in the world,” he added.
