Kassym-Jomart Tokayev: the past elections are a continuation of the previously taken course for political change

President of the Republic Kassym-Jomart Tokayev considers the parliamentary and local government elections held in the country a worthy continuation of the previously taken course of political transformation. According to information that RIA Novosti published on Tuesday, the head of state announced his position during a festive event dedicated to Nauryz.

“On the eve of the elections to the Majilis and maslikhats, which are a serious step in the promotion of all our reforms. These elections were a worthy continuation of large-scale changes. In other words, a new milestone in the political development of the country has begun,” Tokayev, said.

In addition, the leader of Kazakhstan also noted his role in the political reform of the country, since exactly a year ago he took initiatives aimed at changing the political course of the state.

“The people supported our proposals. During the year, we have successfully implemented everything planned. During the referendum, important amendments were made to the Constitution of the country. Serious political steps have been taken aimed at updating the system of power,” the President of the Republic added.

Recall that the elections to the Majilis (approx. – the lower house of parliament) and maslikhats (local representative bodies) were held in Kazakhstan this Sunday, March 19. So far, the results of voting on party lists are known: according to them, the Amanat party is in the lead in the election race with 53.9% of the votes. In second and third place are “Auyl” and Respublica with 10.9% and 8.59%. According to the new electoral standards, the People’s Party of Kazakhstan (6.8% of those who voted), the Democratic Party of Kazakhstan “Ak Zhol” (8.41%), as well as the National Social Democratic Party (5.2%) can pass the electoral threshold and get into Parliament.
